WORLD SPINE DAY 2018 TOOLKIT

World Spine Day is October 16, 2018, and the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) has announced #LoveYourSpine as the theme.

As a global day of action to highlight the burden of spinal disorders and advocate for effective management, this year’s theme reflects how people can empower themselves and others when it comes to spinal health.

What we’re doing to promote World Spine Day

We’re offering a free #LoveYourSpine guide to Canadians. Loaded with chiropractor-approved tips, information on chiropractic care, and more, we will drive the public to the guide using social media and online advertising. The #LoveYourSpine campaign will run for two weeks, launching on October 16th.

The strategic goal of this campaign is to connect with and educate Canadians about the importance of spinal health and the value of chiropractic care. In addition to increasing awareness, we will use email addresses acquired from the #LoveYourSpine guide downloads to create a database of Canadians interested in chiropractic care, enabling us to contact them in future campaigns.

Using the Members Toolkit

The Members Toolkit is designed to support you with your own #LoveYourSpine campaigns. It includes background information, statistics, resources, and sample social media posts that you can tailor to your needs. We look forward to working together and supporting Canadian chiropractors to raise awareness of chiropractic and spinal health during this year’s World Spine Day.

Statistics to support World Spine Day

Here are some statistics you can share with the public about the importance of spinal health and physical activity.
• Over 11 million Canadians suffer from at least one MSK condition each year.
• Up to 85% of workers will experience low back pain in their lifetime.
• One in eight Canadians report having a chronic back problem.
• Over 31% of Canadians report activity limitations due to back pain.
• Forty percent of work absences are due to back pain, second only to the common cold.
• One in 10 Canadians report limitations to their normal activities due to a repetitive strain injury.

Campaign Hashtag: #LoveYourSpine

Hashtags are an important part of the World Spine Day campaign. They provide a better way to unite public participation and engagement. #LoveYourSpine is this year’s campaign hashtag. We’d encourage you to use it on all of your campaign materials and social media posts.

Tips for hashtags: Do not compromise the intent of your tweet. Always ensure your message is clear then incorporate hashtags only if they fit.
